The mayor of Pasadena is sorely mistaken in supporting the proposed float representing the Beijing (China) Olympics.
He cites three cities that have participated in the parade. One was Athens, where the Olympics were created and initiated. The second was Mexico City, a city in a neighboring country with whom we have close relations. The third was, of all places, Los Angeles! I remember some events were held in Pasadena. If Bill Bogaard's logic is consistent, he would have welcomed Adolph Hitler's Berlin Olympics to the Rose Parade in order to commit to human rights. I find most of his last paragraph very offensive, particularly: "The United States is not perfect and China is not perfect." We are not perfect, but comparing the United States to China in regards to friendship, exchange, mutual respect and commitment to human rights is shameful.
The float should be removed.
